What years of crush do to bare concrete
Juice is acid plus sugar, and a working pad meets both every vintage. By the time we see most crush pads, the paste layer around the drains is etched down to exposed aggregate, the surface is stained purple a metre in every direction, and the falls have flattened where the slab settled. None of that is cosmetic, open concrete holds product and cleaning never fully reaches it.
The system that survives it
The damaged surface is ground or shot-blasted back to sound concrete, etched areas are rebuilt with resin mortar, and the pad gets a double-broadcast quartz build finished in a novolac topcoat, chemistry rated for organic acid one hour and hot caustic the next. Where the pad also takes steam or genuinely hot wash-down, urethane cement replaces the epoxy base.
Drains and falls are half the job
A crush pad is a wash-down floor before it is anything else. We correct falls so water actually reaches the trench drain, detail the resin into the drain body rather than stopping at the lip, and cove the wall junctions. This detailing, not the field of the floor, is what keeps a pad cleanable and what inspectors look at.
Timing the install
Three to five days including cure, and the calendar matters more than anywhere else we work: the job books January through June, after bottling and before the fruit arrives. A pad that fails in September is living with it until the following winter, which is the strongest argument for dealing with a marginal floor in spring.
