Slab temperature, not air temperature
Concrete has enormous thermal mass and lags well behind the air around it. A garage can read 15°C on a thermometer with a 6°C slab underfoot. Resin cures against the slab, so that is what we measure with an infrared thermometer before committing to a product.
The dew point problem nobody mentions
Cold weather brings a second issue. If the slab is colder than the dew point of the air in the room, an invisible film of moisture forms on the surface and destroys adhesion. The working rule is a minimum 3°C margin above dew point. If it is not there, we do not start, regardless of what the calendar says.
Temporary heat done properly
Heating during application and letting the space drop overnight does not work. The coating cures on its own schedule, not ours. Temporary heat means holding the slab above the product minimum for the entire cure window, which is typically a vented construction heater running for several days.
Why winter booking can be an advantage
Spring and summer are when everyone calls at once. A January enquiry for an April install usually gets the date it wants. And a bare slab left through another winter takes on another season of road salt, which is the argument for not waiting at all if the space is heated.
