Why two passes
The first pass fills the resin to rejection and sets the base texture. Once cured it is scraped and vacuumed, then a second resin coat goes on and is broadcast again. That second pass takes the floor from about a sixteenth of an inch to an eighth or a quarter, which is where the impact resistance and depth of texture come from.
Colour that goes all the way through
The aggregate is ceramic-coated coloured granule, so the colour is in the stone rather than in a film above it. Wear exposes more of the same colour instead of revealing a different base underneath, which is why these floors hold their appearance under a decade of cart wheels and daily caustic wash-down.
Coved, detailed and inspectable
The floor turns up the wall as an integral 4-6 inch resin cove, and drains are dressed with proper fall and terminated into the drain body. There is no joint, no silicone bead and nowhere for grease or bacteria to collect. This detailing is the difference between passing a health inspection and arguing about one.
Quartz or flake for a commercial space
Flake is fine for dry commercial areas, retail back-of-house, gyms, storage. Quartz is the right call anywhere with water, grease, chemicals or wash-down, because it is thicker, more impact-resistant, and can be coved and detailed to a drain.
