Why it does not yellow
Polyaspartic is aliphatic, meaning UV stability is built into the chemistry rather than added as a stabiliser that depletes. Standard epoxy is aromatic, and ultraviolet light breaks it down. It ambers, then chalks, then loses gloss unevenly. Anywhere sun reaches a floor, polyaspartic is the only correct topcoat.
Why it cures so fast
The reaction is a deliberately slowed polyurea, and the set time is adjustable at the pail. It can be tuned from a fifteen-minute pot life in cold weather to over an hour for a large floor on a hot day. That control is what makes a one-day complete floor build possible.
The trade-off
It costs substantially more per gallon and builds less thickness per coat, so a full polyaspartic floor lands $2-$3 per square foot above the epoxy-base equivalent. It also gives a crew far less working time, and a slow installer leaves lap marks that cannot be corrected afterwards. It is an unforgiving product in inexperienced hands.
When to pay for a full polyaspartic build
Three situations justify it: you need the space back in one day, it is too cold for epoxy to cure, or the floor is outdoors. Outside those, an epoxy base under a polyaspartic topcoat gives more build for less money and is what we specify by default.
